Marysville Ag students enrolled in the Agriculture Business class evaluate the soybean market to determine when to sell their bushels of soybeans. The evaluation of the markets began in December, a little before Marysville High School’s winter break. On January 15th, Ryan Lee came in to Marysville High School to demonstrate the correct way to evaluate the soybean and corn markets. Students enrolled in this Agriculture Business Class are; Hunter Heard, Brandon Maisenbacher, Logan Williams, Derek Guy, Jesse McClary, Nicol Hamilton, Leighann Shanklin, Emily Rostofer, Taci Welch, Ryan Cook, Amelia Lively, David Haake, Emily Hunt, Issac Knowles, Alli Lee, Shae Leeper, Cassidy Page and Megan McIntosh.
Students in this class are in a competition to sell 200-300 bushels of soybeans for the best price out of the class. So far, Logan Williams is the only student to sell 100 bushels of soybeans for a price of $8.82 per bushel. Students signed up for text messages from Heritage to be updated on the soybean market continuously. However, they can also see the markets on Heritage’s website. In order to sell these soybeans, they must contact Shari Anderson, the teacher of the Agriculture Business Class, who will then sell the soybeans that are held at Heritage through their delayed pricing program. Students from the Agriculture Department sincerely appreciate Ryan Lee’s dedication to teaching them about marketing.
